A bicycle is definitely a viable transportation option in Santa Barbara. In our household, we had a road biker who preferred to pedal to work every day, from Goleta to downtown Santa Barbara, rather than getting stuck in local rush-hour traffic jams.
Because there are plenty of bike lanes all over the place in Santa Barbara, this is a viable option. Plus you’ll score major points with the local residents, who tend to be an earth-loving, eco-conscious bunch.
Mountain Biking in Santa Barbara
Elings park in Santa Barbara is one of the nicer spots to find trails for cross country and downhill mountain biking. Check their schedule to find various cross country and downhill mountain bike races too. Their annual bike festival is well worth checking out.
There are other mountain biking trails available in Santa Barbara as well. They do get crowded at peak times, and you’ll have to share them with the local hikers.
